Amazon is looking to make 12 original films each year, release them in cinemas and launch them on Prime Instant Video 4-8 weeks later.
After winning big at the Golden Globes this year, Amazon wants the transition of the early success in TV business to original films.
Amazon plans to release 12 original films every year, and has a smart way of integrating these films to promote its own streaming service, Prime Instant Video.

The e-commerce giant will release the films on Prime Instant Video 4-8 weeks after it launches in cinemas, creating a great incentive to subscribe to the streaming service, if the original films manage to capture a large audience.
Indie film producer Ted Hope will head the new directive to create 12 original films, his production company has worked on various acclaimed titles like, "Eat Drink Man Woman," "Crouching Tiger" and "Hidden Dragon."
"Audiences already recognize that Amazon has raised the bar with productions in the episodic realm, tackling bold material in unique ways and collaborating with top talent, both established and emerging. To help carry the torch into the feature film world for such an innovative company is a tremendous opportunity and responsibility," said Hope.
Amazon still hasn't revealed the names of these 12 original films, but it will most likely feature some previously used brands. Amazon has been in hot water with investors due to overspending, and this might be another issue with 12 films, depending on Amazon's budget.
Netflix has not made the same commitment to films, but acquired the rights to Marco Polo for $90 million, investing a huge amount into the serial drama involving the Mongol leader Kublai Khan.
