Host team Australia shocked the volleyball community by capturing the last remaining spot of the final six of the 2014 Federation of International Volleyball Bureau (FIVB) Volleyball World League.

Australia qualified for the final four of Division 2 for being host to the World League even though it finished last in Pool D of the tournament.

But that didn't stop the team from defeating France in the finals to claim the remaining spot for the final six of the Men's Volleyball World League.

Sydney Olympic Park Arena was filled with Australian supporters that gave the Volleyroos the confidence to take down a formidable French team who defeated Pool C's winners Belgium in the semi-finals Friday.

Australian captain Aidan Zingel inspired his team in the first set as he led in the blocking arena to take the set 25-20.

France, led by lead attacker Mory Sidibe rallied the Frenchmen on the second set and helped with a couple of service errors from Australia; they took the set 25-22 to even up the match.

Sidibe continued to hit from the outside on the third set keeping the score even, and with Australia's lead hitter Thomas Edgar resting in the bench, the Frenchmen took advantage to take the lead at 8-6.

But the crowd became a key factor to the game as Adam White and Nehemiah Mote converted with their attacks taking back the lead 16-14.

A series of unforced errors plagued the Australians which gave France the opportunity to be back in the game 21-22.

Australian coach Jon Uriarte then put Edgar back in, who immediately went to work, pounding the ball past French blockers and eventually taking the set 25-22.

France's errors continue to plague them in the fourth set coupled with an ankle injury of star player Kevin Le Roux but outside hitter Nicolas Le Goff took charge and the Frenchmen held firm to a 25-23 set win taking the match into overtime.

The fifth and deciding set was as close as the fourth as both teams didn't let up on their serves taking the final set into a tie-break at 14 apiece.

The crowd was all in a frenzy as Greg Sukochev pulled off a tremendous block over the net followed by Edgar slamming down a commanding spike that sealed them the title and a final six berth 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 16-14.

Australia joins Italy and the United States in Pool H for a single round-robin to determine who makes it to the semi-finals, while Iran, Russia and Brazil will battle it out in Pool I slated to start July 16 at the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy.
