Korean singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong has been accused of domestic violence, allegedly by a woman who was claiming to be his girlfriend.

The allegations of abusing his girlfriend have led to Kim Hyun Joong's summoning by the police so that investigations can begin.

Kim Hyun Joong has been sued for physical abuse, but the case is still under investigation, said the Songpa Police Station.

According to reports, Kim Hyun Joong assaulted his girlfriend which led to her sustaining several wounds on her body.

A source -- close to the alleged victim of the incident -- told reporters that both Kim Hyun Joong and his girlfriend have been dating since 2012, and had no previous problems with their relationship until May of this year.

The person further explained the situation, stating that "women problems" were the main source of their problem - citing a 3^rd party as the possible reason for the assault to happen.

Based on Korean media Dispatch, Kim Hyun Joong's girlfriend was sent to the hospital in May of this year.

The woman suffered injuries in different parts of her body, such as her back, face, chest and buttocks.

The woman has yet to be identified, but she claims that the assault happened from May until July, but Kim Hyun Joong repeatedly apologized to her every time.

The woman's latest encounter with Kim Hyun Joong has led to more serious injuries, such as fractures to her right ribs.  

Keyeast, Kim Hyun Joong's agency, has released an official statement negating the accusations of repeated abuse, explaining that the woman's rib injury occured while they "were playing previously".

It took the agency 24 hours to respond to the incident that involved the Korean singer-actor.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong was in Thailand for a concert when the news became main stream.
