Miami Heat hangs on as the San Antonio Spurs made a last ditch effort to tie the game and send it to overtime but to no avail. Heat ties series 1-1 with a final score of 98-96 in game 2 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals.
With just 9.4 seconds remaining in the ball game and the Heat up by 5, Spurs' Manu Ginobili made a three-pointer but the buzzer sounded to end the match.
Defending Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) LeBron James scored 35 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Heat.
San Antonio looks in form as they take the early lead in the first quarter 26-19 but after a few defensive adjustments Miami fought back and ended the second quarter in a dead even score 43 all with James leading his team with 13 points.
After the dugout, LeBron yet again leads his team with an 8-0 run against the Spurs and finally going ahead by two off a three point shot by James, 64-62. The lead changed multiple times and with three seconds left on the third quarter, San Antonio's Tony Parker hits a floater, finishing the third with Spurs leading 78-77.
James started the fourth quarter on the bench and got back in with a little over eight minutes left in the ball game, Miami leading by 1.
Danny Green hits a shot from downtown for the Spurs taking the lead away at 85-83 but James replies as the shot clock winds down and ties the game again at 85 all.
With only 6:52 left in the game, LeBron fouls Manu Ginobili putting Miami in foul penalty and gets Manu on the line for two free-throw shots which he sinks both.
Two fouls were given by Miami to the Spurs but both Tony Parker and Tim Duncan missed their free-throws that gave James the opportunity to hit a three-pointer that gave them the lead again at 88-87.
It's pandemonium at the AT&T arena as San Antonio's Boris Diaw hits a three-pointer at the corner tying the game at 90 a piece with 4:14 left.
But Miami hung tough and eventually winning game 2 of their best-of-seven series with a final score of 98-96.
