K-Pop Culture Strengthened In China To Attract More Tourists To Visit South Korea

The tourism authority of South Korea has strengthened its tour and K-pop culture advertisement in China to attract more tourists to visit the country.
The move came after tourism officials in South Korea aimed to tap more Chinese tourists to visit the country. Korean dramas, music and reality shows are sweeping in China.

Package tours to South Korea and their K-pop culture have already been promoted in different Chinese cities including Beijing and Guangzhou.The government of South Korea has already certified a total of 10 tour packages. The said tour packages are directed towards Chinese tourists. Strict standards for accommodations and cultural experiences have already been imposed.
South Korean TV dramas including the hit My Love from the Star has captured the hearts of Chinese audiences. The set used for the popular drama has been displayed at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Since then, plaza has become a famous destination for tourists coming from China.
A drama center at Dongdaemun Design Plaza receives 1,000 daily visitors. Ninety percent of which are Chinese tourists.
Tourism Policy Division manager Choi Yong-hoon said that the Chinese market has a big potential. He also said that China being South Korea’s closest neighbor could strengthen tourism relationships.
Choi said that the SoKor tourism authority has been greatly concerned about the number of low-quality travel tours made available in the market.
This made the tourism division of South Korea impose certified quality tourism products. The effort is a part of the plan to improve the number of tourists coming from China. Furthermore, Choi said that the effort would enhance the experience of Chinese tourists visiting the country.
The tourism manager also pointed out that the goal of South Korea is directed to new and returning tourists. According to Choi, if first time tourists enjoyed their experience, they will come back brining other family members and friends.
The tourism authority in Seoul has been aware of the increasing popularity of the Korean pop culture. Officials said that this could play a major role in driving more Chinese tourists in the country.
Last year, China replaced Japan as the biggest source of tourists coming to South Korea. According to a report from China Daily, the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea hit a record high of 4.32 million trips. The record shows that about 35.5 percent of South Korea’s tourists came from China.
