Death Toll From Dual Typhoon in China Rises to 64

Sixty-two lives were lost as super typhoon Rammasun barreled through China's southwest, while 21 people are still missing. Typhoon Matmo, following a few days after, has claimed two lives, according to latest official figures reported by Xinhua.
The total number of citizens resettled reached a high of 862,000 people. Officials estimate that some 261,000 are in urgent need of basic necessities.

The two typhoons also caused direct economic losses of 38.5 billion yuan, equivalent to US$6.25 billion.
Rammasun was the strongest typhoon to hit China in four decades. It was defined as a super typhoon and brought gale-force winds, downpours and floods over huge parts of southwestern China.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs said in a statement on Friday that Rammasun affected more than 11 million people in the provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, and Yunnan as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Severe damage was reported on road networks, power and water supplies. Telecommunications in affected areas have also been badly damaged, Xinhua reports..
In a separate statement, civil affairs also said two people were killed and another two reported missing after the impact of typhoon Matmo extended to the provinces of Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong and Guangdong.
One person was reported killed in Guangdong and another one in Jiangxi..
More than one million people in the six provinces had been affected by the typhoon Matmo.
251,000 have been relocated and almost 3,000 are in urgent need of basic living supplies.
Matmo has caused economic losses worth 840 million yuan equivalent to US$134.5 million.
Seen as whole, 120 million people this year in China have been affected by natural disasters, including floods, hail, typhoons and earthquakes.
A total of 533 people have been killed and 97 are still missing, show figures from the Ministry of Civil Affairs according to Xinhua.
15 emergency response programs have been launched by the ministry working together with the Ministry of Finance to provide 1.97 billion yuan equivalent to US$318.5 million in aid to the affected people.
