Perennial powerhouse Shanghai SIPG FC (8-4-6, 30 points) will host mercurial squad Chongqing Lifan FC (5-7-6, 21 points) at their home field of Shanghai Stadium on July 20, Wednesday as the 2016 Chinese Super League season continues.

Shanghai SIPG is coming off a fateful 1-2 Shanghai derby loss to Shanghai Greenland Shenhua at the Hongkou Football Stadium on Sunday which saw the tragic injury of Shenhua striker Demba Ba from an accidental clashing of legs with SIPG captain Sun Xiang, Cri English reported.

SIPG was leading, 1-0, following a goal from local striker Wu Lei at the 55th minute off an assist from Brazilian import Elkeson, when the incident happened.

It was during the 72nd-minute mark when Ba received the ball near midfield when he was challenged by Sun. The two players lightly collided, but Sun's left leg hit Ba's won at an awkward angle, causing the latter's left tibia and fibula bones to completely split apart.

Shenhua managed to snatch the win with late goals from Cao Yunding and Fredy Guarin, but Ba was lost for the season and probably for the rest of his career according to some reports.

The loss snapped the Massive's two-game winning run as they played without newly-acquired striker Hulk, who himself was injured during his debut with the squad in the previous round.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Lifan pulled off a 3-0 stunner on contending team Henan Jianye on the road last Saturday at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium, via Soccerway.

Brazilian striker Fernandinho started the scoring during the first half stoppage time before other imports Jung Woo-young and Emanuel Gigliotti added to the lead at the 73rd and 85th minutes to seal the game for manager Chang Woe-ryong's side.

It was the fourth win in the last six games for Chongqing as the team had been inconsistent with their plays as of late. They are now at the 11th spot of the league table, six points above the bottom two relegation zone.

There are no official reports whether Hulk will be able to return for SIPG in this match. However, even without the former Zenit Saint Petersburg forward, head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's squad is still favored to win over Lifan.

The predicted result is a 2-0 romp for Shanghai SIPG.
