China PR dropped a disappointing 2-3 game to regional rivals Korea Republic at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in the South Korean capital city last Thursday for their opening match in this round of the ongoing AFC qualifiers, as per Reuters.

The scoring started with a sorry own goal from Guangzhou Evergrande team captain Zheng Zhi at the 20th minute of the match to give the Koreans a 1-0 advantage at the half.

The Taegeuk Warriors followed it up with one goal apiece from Crystal Palace winger Lee Chung-Yong and Augsburg midfielder Koo Ja-cheol at the 63rd and 66th minutes respectively to give the host team a 3-0 lead late in the game.

Shanghai SIPG winger Yu Hai and Shandong Luneng midfielder Hao Junmin netted two quick ones at the 74th and 77th minutes to cut the lead to just one point, but head coach Gao Hongbo's side fell short as they failed to find the equalizer as time ran out.

Meanwhile, Iran blanked Qatar, 2-0, at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran to open their third round campaign on a high note, via Press TV.

After almost ending the match in a goalless draw, manager Carlos Queiroz's squad suddenly hit two in injury time, courtesy of striker Reza Ghoochannejhad and winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh, to snatch the three points away from Qatar.

Iran is ranked much higher by FIFA in the world rankings over China and therefore expected to win via a lopsided fashion. However, Coach Gao's squad is set to surprise Team Melli at home this Tuesday and will keep the game close.
