The third major confidence-building strategy involving two of the world's largest militaries will happen on November 4 to November 14 in the Chengdu Military Command.

The conformity was agreed when the Indian Defense Minister A.K. Antony paid a visit last July, according to media reports. Beijing and New Delhi will send out 100 to 150 soldiers to join the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Two joint exercises like this one have taken place last 2007 in Kunming, Yunnan province and in 2008 in Belgaum, Karnataka, India.
Aside from the upcoming recommencement of drills, the defense ministries of both countries have also agreed to launch mutual air and naval drills.
Both military sides started a system of discussion with regards to border issues a year ago. However, their ties are still strained by territorial issues intermittently.
The Indian media claimed last April that the Chinese defense troops had intruded the Indian Territory in the western sector of the dubious border area. Beijing, rebuffing the charge, claimed that the Chinese border defense troops, who are dedicated to maintaining peace and stillness in the border area, did not do so. The retreat went on for three weeks while both parties are betrothed in border meetings.
So far, Beijing and New Delhi have had engaged in 16 meetings.
India, in mid-August, launched Arihant, its first nuclear submarine and the aircraft carrier Vikrant, indicative of its desire to boost up its military competences.
This exercise, though not a huge one, sends an optimistic indication because it helps alleviate border tensions amid China and India, the two neighboring countries along the "Line of Actual Control," while strengthening mutual trust.
