NBA Veteran DeJuan Blair to Play in China for Jiangsu Tongxi Monkey Kings

Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team Jiangsu Tongxi Monkey Kings has reportedly hired the services of the former NBA player DeJuan Blair to play for the club.

According to Asia-Basket, the 27-year-old native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania  finished last 20115-16 NBA season without a team after the Phoenix Suns waived him following an NBA trade deadline deal with the Washington Wizards for Markieff Morris. Blair, who would be playing for the first time in China's top basketball league, appeared in 29 official games for the Wizards before being traded.

The 2010 NBA All-Rookie Second Team member posted averages of 2.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.5 minutes of playing time in his final season with the basketball club.

Blair is the 2009 NBA Draft 37th overall pick selected by the San Antonio Spurs. He played a total of 288 official matches in his four-season tenure with the Western Conference team. During his stint with the Spurs, Blair entered the game as a starter in 65 of the 81 games that he appeared in in his second year with the club while posting averages of 8.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 assists in 21.4 minutes per contest.

Blair scored double figures on 28 occasions and registered 17 double-double game performances during the same season with the Spurs.

On August 2013, Blair inked a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks. The former University of Pittsburgh Panthers standout played 78 official matches for the squad.

Jiangsu Tongxi finished 16th in the 20-team Chinese league winning 12 of their 38 games last season.
