The train can carry more than 200 passengers. It is cheaper when compared to subways and trams, far easier to board and alight, and is more streamlined.
The sky train was officially flagged off from the elevated railway train on Saturday by Nanjing Puzhen Company Limited in association with China's largest state-owned rolling stock manufacturer, China Railway Stock Corporation (CRRC).
The sky train runs on batteries, which can last for up to four hours. The batteries can only be changed at a station, and the process does not more than two minutes.
According to Professor Yue Zhaohong, a professor at Beijing Jiaotong University, the trains are a great asset because of the speed in their production
"The construction period of the sky trains is much shorter than that of subways, lasting only three to five months for dozens of kilometers' of rail to be developed," he said, according to China Radio International.
The train comes highly recommended by experts for third and fourth tier cities and at scenic viewpoints.
