German engineering firm Siemens AG is reportedly considering selling its remaining stake in lighting business Osram Licht AG, valued at $872 million, to potential buyers including China's GSR GO Scale Capital, according to Bloomberg.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the deal for the remaining 17 percent stake could be announced as early as this month. Insiders revealed that the potential buyout would help GO Scale to further increase its stake or make a takeover offer for the Osram, which is estimated to be worth $5.16 billion.

Although there has been no final decision made yet, Sonny Wu, chairman of GO Scale, has expressed interest in the potential opportunity with Osram in an interview on Monday. He, however, refused to comment further on the matter.
Representatives from Osram and Siemens also declined to comment.
Should GO Scale walk away from the deal, other Chinese bidders and private equity firms have reportedly expressed interest in the remaining stake, two people familiar with the matter said.
If the deal is successful, this will mark the third instance that GO Scale has made an offer for a European lighting company since last year, Bloomberg reported. The company made a bid this year for Royal Philips NV's unit Lumileds but was blocked by the United States' security panels. GO Scale also tried to make an offer for the company's other subsidiary, but the business was sold through an initial public offering, sources revealed.
Following the report, shares of Osram jumped by more than percent on Monday, Reuters reported.
"It seems investors are happy that Siemens has found a buyer instead of having to sell the shares via the stock exchange," one trader said.
