Vinci, 33, has already won 35 WTA Tour titles; she has 10 singles titles and 25 crowns in the doubles event under her belt.
The tournament's reigning champion Jelena Jankovic is expected to defend her Guangzhou Open title. It will be the 2008 US Open finalist's fourth time to compete in the tennis competition, according to Xinhua.
Jankovic, who was once a former highest-ranked female tennis player in the world, would be aiming to become the first player in the history of the tournament to win the title on two-straight occasions. The Serbian tennis star currently ranks No. 37 in the latest world rankings.
WTA's world No. 36 Sara Errani of Italy would also be participating in the Guangzhou-based tournament for the second-straight year.
Swiss tennis superstar Martina Hingis is also expected to play in the women's doubles event this year. Hingis, 35, who is a five-time Grand Slam singles champion and the current WTA's doubles No.1, was the defending champion in the double's event in the competition, winning the title along with Sania Mirza of India.
The Guangzhou Open is one of China's oldest international professional women's tennis competitions. It was founded as a WTA International tournament in 2004.
The tournament has a $225,000.00 prize money and secures the winning competitor 280 points in the world rankings. The tennis matches are played on a hard surface.
