The Chinese government ousted 45 deputies at the Liaoning provincial legislature on Tuesday for being elected through fraud, Xinhua News Agency reported.
According to Channel News Asia, the National People's Congress' (NPC) Standing Committee invalidated the election of the said legislators on the grounds of vote buying and bribery during the 2013 election.

The standing committee voted for the disqualification of 45 delegates out of nearly 100 people listed as attending from Liaoning at March's annual meeting of the legislature.
The committee also voted to adopt a resolution to create a preparatory panel that would assume the duties of the unseated legislators, according to IBTimes.
The panel would be held responsible for recording the disqualification cases of the 45 delegates and making the records public. It is also tasked with confirming the qualification or nullifying the election of local legislators voted in the by-election based on the reports given by the relevant credentials committee. The panel will be responsible for convening the seventh session of the 12th Liaoning Provincial People's Congress.
Authorities did not say what would happen to the 45 delegates; if they are bound to face prosecution.
Meanwhile, Zhang Dejiang, the chairman of the NPC Standing Committee who presided over the extraordinary meeting, said the case of the Liaoning electoral bribery was the first of its kind to take place since the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949.
