Chinese Paralympic Athletes Continue to Dominate Rio Games

Chinese Paralympians continue to reign superior at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games Olympics. On Tuesday, China's medals tally stood at 153 medals with six new world records just seven days into the competition.

On the medals table, China is first with 153 medals (66 gold, 52 silver, 35 bronze) followed by Britain with 34 gold and Ukraine with 27 medals.
As in the past, swimming was the greatest field for Chinese Paralympians with four new world records coming from this area and 14 medals. Chinese athletes also set a record in the 100m race and long jump.
The first record was set by newcomer Hu Jianwen in the men's 100m T38 final. He beat the record held by Evan O'Hanlon, who came in second in the after he clocked 10.74 seconds.
O'Hanlon, a two-time gold medalist, was in shock saying that the results might have been because of a calf injury
"This is the first time I've been beaten on the international stage since probably 2006. I can't take anything away from Hu, he ran a world record to beat me," he said.
Another new world record came from Huang Wenpan after the 21-year old touched the wall in 39.24 seconds, thereby breaking his previous record by 1.26 seconds in the men's 50m freestyle S3 finale.
Yang Bozun, 30, also set a new record and claimed victory in the 100m breaststroke SB11 title, beating his previous record by three-hundredths of a second.
It was Yang's third medal at the Rio Olympics and seventh Paralympic title overall.
Shang Guangxu also broke his previous record at the Rio Paralympic Games in the men's long jump T37. He jumped 6.77 meters high to claim victory and break his third record.
Zhang Xiantong, 17, set a new world record after she won the women's 100m breaststroke SB11 in a time of 23.02.
Chinese fencer, Zhou Jingjing set the sixth world record for China after she defeated Thailand's Jana Saysunee 15-10 in the women's individual epee category B final.
"I attacked more than her using a strategy based on the fact that she's taller and longer than me. I'm short but this is not a disadvantage," she said.
