A great number of women in China--ranging from corporate employees to government civil servants--are turning to aesthetic care products and services in a bid to maintain a youthful image, according to a report released on Friday.

The report, which was released at China's International Plastic and Aesthetics Industry Exhibition and Conference (CIPAE), ranks China as the third largest country receiving plastic surgeries.

"China's medical beauty industry has entered into a golden age of rapid development," the report said. "Chinese medical beauty industry amounts to 500 billion yuan ($77.9 billion). The number of consumers exceeds 7.43m and quantities of plastic surgeries account for 12.7% of that in the world."

The report also projected that by 2019, China could most likely have hit the 1 trillion yuan ($150b) mark.

According to Sadie Zhang, an official at Ladyjoy, a Beijing-based institution dedicated to plastic surgery and medical skin care industry, the area has been experiencing annual growth for the past five years.

"Even teenagers have come for us for a better look," said Zhang. "Twenty to forty-year olds demand entry level or skin enhancement, while those who are in their 40s' choose more anti-aging treatment."

She added that the treatment is no longer specifically for celebrities alone.

Wang Qianqian, a mother and senior executive of an internet and culture company in Beijing, chose to invest 50,000 yuan ($7500) after noticing that her friends were getting prettier despite their age.

"It's the most valuable investment I've ever made," she said. "I am more confident since my face skin looks tighter and brighter."
