Ruco Chan's Relationship with Linda Chung in 'All That is Bitter is Sweet' is 'Impossible'

Hong Kong actor Ruco Chan has shared how different his dynamics were with actress Linda Chung from last year's production of 'Brother's Keeper' and their roles in the drama 'All That is Bitter is Sweet'.

According to Ruco, during the time he worked together with his co-star Chung, his role was that of a man who relentlessly chose to chase after the one he loves. As opposed to his role in 'Brother's Keeper', he said that in the new drama, his role was that of a man who doesn't have a future and avoids anything related to love at all costs.

Ruco's role in 'All That is Bitter is Sweet' is that of a man named Ting Yat Yuen. The character portrays a wanderer who does business with corrupt officials and does not think he has a forseeable future.

On the other hand, Linda's character is named To Kai Kei, a widow who hates the regime in China on the time which the film was set. The actress' character is similar to Ruco's role when it comes to their loathing towards the government.

"Many people think he is being rebellious, but in reality, they just can't see as far as Ting Yat Yuen," the actor said.

In the story, Kai Kei's family gets confiscated by the government which would then make Yat Yuen help her regain it. In the course of their journey together, they develop an unclear kind of relationship, bordering romance.

Ruco's character then falls in love, but he becomes afraid to confess his feelings for Linda's character. In the story, Yat Yuen has a hereditary disease which would prevent him from having a future with Kai Kei.

The actor praised his co-star for being hardworking despite not having fluent skills in Chinese. The actress was said to have struggled with her script, but adapted quickly after a while.
