Thousands of factory workers at two touchscreen production sites in southern China refuse to work as their companies go back on the promised holiday benefits.
Subsidiaries of Taiwanese company Wintek Corporation experience a massive two-day strike from its laborers, giving the two LCD screen makers a serious ultimatum: 'No cake, no screens!'

On Tuesday, workers at the Dongguan Masstop Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd left their work stations to go on strike after the company's management backed out on promised bonuses. The strikes continued on Wednesday at the Wintek Technology, Ltd.
Wintek has been supplying touchscreens for many Apple products including the latest iPhone 6 and Apple watch and is considered one of the world's biggest LCD flat screen producer.
"There are 10,000 of us in that factory, so when we stop work, nobody anywhere in the world gets their screens," worker Cai Shen explained. She also added that they did not receive the promised money and moon cake as bonus for this year's Mid-Autumn holidays.
Moon cakes are popular traditional delicacies often produced during the Mid-Autumn festival. These are given as gifts to people with whom Chinese residents wish to maintain good will and positive relations with.
According to reports, the protesting laborers were promised both the cake and a $95 bonus.
However, company spokesperson Dong Teng clarified that there had been a 'misunderstanding' and that they are working on keeping their workers happy.
According to another Wintek executive who refused to be named, the strike ended on Thursday as the company does not expect it to significantly affect the plant's production.
China had been experiencing labor strikes in recent years as the economy slowed because of an aggravated labor shortage.
The country's largest labor protest took place in April when over 40,000 laborers stopped working on a shoe factory in Dongguan because of insufficient social insurance benefits.
The factory had been supplying giants in the shoe industry including Adidas AG, Nike Inc. and other major brands of sneakers.
