Pinewood Studios to Open an Office in China

Pinewood Studios is putting up a representative office in China in response to the country's booming film industry.
"Pinewood has been working in China for a number of years and we have forged some strong relationships with film companies, content producers, and game developers. A permanent presence in China is a key strategic element of Pinewood's overall international strategy," Andrew M. Smith, president of Pinewood China, said.

The Buckinghamshire-based film and facility group's initiative to open an office in Beijing for Pinewood's services in the areas of "studio design and build, production services including post production, content development, marine services, education, and training," according to its statement.
Pinewood China will be headed by Amanda Halliday, who joined the company in 2014 after working in film and theater in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Pinewood is also providing consultancy services to several Chinese film companies and offers post-production services to Chinese clients such as Tencent Games and Disneynature/Shanghai Media Group, according to the Variety.
Furthermore, it is also advising Dalian Wanda Group, owned by China's richest man Wang Jianlin, on the design and construction of its new 45-stage Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis that is set to open next year, the BBC reported.
The announcement comes just a day after Pinewood Group shareholders' approved the company's takeover by real estate private equity fund PW Real Estate Fund III, according to The Financial Times.
Currently, Pinewood Studios already has 78 stages across Canada, the Dominican Republic, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom. It is involved in several international blockbusters including Star Wars movies and the James Bond franchise.
