Despite the loss of halfback Ray Rice, the Baltimore Ravens played well and eventually won against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rice had been suspended indefinitely earlier due to the new video evidence that surfaced concerning how he hit his wife, Jayna Palmer.
However, the scandal did not irk the Ravens.

Both teams finished the previous season with eight wins, eight losses, and missing an opportunity to go to the playoffs. They were also struggling with rebuilding their respective teams with the new players.
It seemed that the Ravens though handled the transition much better.
In the first quarter, the Pittsburgh pushed with a tenacious eight minute drive. The drive though was stymied when wide receiver Justin Brown dropped and fumbled the ball.
The rest of the quarter saw Ravens offense and quarterback Joe Flacco in action. With a little less than 30 seconds left, Flacco went with a play-action fake to Owen Daniels. They lead 7-0 at the end of the first.
The Ravens get a field goal early in the second, and the Steelers reply in kind with a 25 yard attempt to get their first points of the night. The quarter ends, 10-3.
The lead is cut to four points, as the Steelers make another field goal at the start of the third. These were also the last points scored by the Steelers in the game.
Another touchdown pass to Owens brings the Ravens' score up to 17.
In the fourth quarter, it only took the Steelers three touchdowns to get back in the game. But that hope quickly ended when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger fumbled the ball after a sack.
The Ravens kept up their defense and scored a couple more field goals in the fourth, bringing the final score to 26-6.
The Ravens proved that they were not wholly affected by the loss of Ray Rice. They improve their record to one win and one loss, mirroring their opponents of the night.
