Veteran cueman Ding Junhui of China claimed his second Shanghai Masters title on Sunday after an impressive 10-6 victory in the final round of the professional ranking snooker tournament over the current world No. 1 Mark Selby of England. With the win, Ding became the first-ever player to win the competition on two occasions.

According to the South China Morning Post, it was a measure of revenge for Ding who surrendered to the 33-year-old Selby in their World Championships showdown last year.
"I feel like I'm back to where I was in 2013. It's special to win back to back tournaments," Ding said. "I felt so strong in the last frame. Mark was coming back at me and he is so strong in safety so he was trying to get snookers. He made every shot so difficult for me, I was just trying to hit the red, that's it."
According to SportingLife, Ding was trailing in the first four frames of the championship match at 1-3. However, the native of Yixing, Jiangsu fought back and rallied with a series of sizable breaks to secure a 6-3 advantage at the interval.
Selby, who was the reigning world champion, bounced back following the interval with huge breaks of his own including runs of 72, 102 and 53 to equalize the match at 6-6 all. With the scores tied, the Asian snooker superstar pulled away once again and dominated the match with breaks of 97 and 63 to claim the 12th title of his colorful career.
"This is a special tournament in Shanghai, it has been going since 2007, and I have learned a lot from it. I'm always very happy to win anywhere in China," Ding said.
With the victory, Ding is expected to rise in the world rankings from his current No. 9 position to No. 6.
