World No 1 Novak Djokovic Withdraws From China Open due to Elbow Injury

(Photo : Getty Images) Elbow injury has forced Novak Djokovic to pull out of the 2016 China Open.
Novak Djokovic would not be playing in the 2016 China Open. The World no 1. announced on Tuesday that he is pulling out of the tournament because of an elbow injury.
The China Open, which is a precursor to Shanghai Masters tournament, will start next week.
"I am extremely disappointed not to be able to compete at the China Open this year," Djokovic said. "I'm still recovering from my elbow injury and have been advised not to play until my condition improves."

Djokovic added that he hopes to return to ATP Tour as soon as possible. However, he did not confirm if he would participate in Shanghai Masters, which is scheduled to begin from October 10.
Djokovic has enjoyed a sluggish form in the second half of 2016. He suffered a shocking defeat to Sam Querrey in the third round of Wimbledon and ended up as a runner-up in the 2016 US open.
The tennis stars that are scheduled to feature in this year's China Open are Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, and current U.S Open single women's champion Angelique Kerber.
