Chinese government's action came in response to a controversy regarding a self proclaimed Qigong master Wang Lin who claims to have supernatural power to cure various diseases.

A native of Jiangxi province of China, Wang had amassed huge wealth through his claims to cure diseases. In July this year, he had posted his pictures on internet while performing supernatural acts as conjuring snakes out of air and with his celebrity guests that includes Jackie Chan, Alibaba founder Jack MA, singer Faye Wong and HK Chief Executive Donald Tsang.

Chinese public and media had questioned Wang's claims and had even accused him of amassing huge wealth on the basis of his bogus claims after government has ordered an inquiry into his medical practices and he was charged with seven crime including fraud and bigamy.

Chinese authorities said that what Wang practiced to cure his patients was not Qigong for medical purposes and only certified TCM doctors are allowed to practice Qigong for medical purposes.

Chinese Health authorities asserted that there is no room for illegal medical practices and they will take strict against such illegal TCM practitioners. The health authorities also promised to build a well-developed TCM disease prevention and health care system in the country in the next 30 years.

Meanwhile, Jiangxi health authorities confirmed that Wang didn't have mandatory licenses to practice Qigong while urging general public to spread among other about Wang's illegal medical practices.

The qigong is ancient art of manipulating qi; the basic particle of matter in nature described by the philosopher Zhuangzi almost 2,000 years ago.
