EXO Chinese member Lay is coming out with his solo track "what U need?" on Oct. 7, which coincides with his 25th birthday celebration.
SM Entertainment, the management agency of EXO, announced in September that Lay is set to become the first EXO member to release his solo album. At the time, the agency had said that the album will be released in China.

The latest news is that "what U need?" will be dropped via Chine-based music group Ali Music and will be released on several Korean music charts.
Soompi reported that the music video of the song will be released along with the track.
The "what U need?" is said to be trendy, as its melody is funky and fans who love to listen to groovy pop genre are expected to like it, especially that it talks about lover's charm and overpowering feelings that comes with it.
Along with singing, Lay has also helped compose and write the lyrics of the medium-tempo song.
After the official release, Lay will be performing "what U need?" at the 2016 Asia Song Festival on Oct.09.
Lay is now the sole Chinese member of the Chinese-Korean idol group that originally debuted with four Chinese members, including Kris, Luhan and Tao.
Soon after the departure of Tao in 2015, there were unconfirmed rumors that indicated that Lay, too, wanted to exit EXO.
SM Management then set up a one-man studio for Lay in China, to support his activities in his home country. The studio was reportedly established to stop Lay from exiting the group. Now, the company has rewarded him with his solo debut.
