Survey Shows Chinese Seeking Bigger Role in World, See U.S. as Biggest Threat

A new global survey conducted by the Pew Research Center revealed that the Chinese believe that the country now commands a bigger role in the world than it did a decade back.
The survey claimed that 75 percent of the respondents saw China as a growing power globally, and 60 percent of them believed that the country's immersion in global trade is a good thing.

However, 23 percent such collaboration to be harmful for the country's interests.
The survey results further showed concerns about domestic matters, with 56 percent aired that they want the primary focus to be on domestic issues, while 22 percent said the country should endeavor to help other nations.
In the meantme, the Chinese had mixed opinions about the United States, as they named it as the top international threat to China.
Of the total number of respondents, 52 percent thought that US is not receptive to accepting China as an upcoming force.
It is worth noting, though, that 50 percent of them gave overall positive rating to the North American capital, while 44 percent gave it the negative score.
The survey further showed that 30 percent of the Chinese were worried about water and air pollution and consider them to be major issues, but 70 percent considered them to be moderately big issues
Meanwhile, 50 percent of the respondents claimed that they would prefer cleaner air over economic growth, and 90 percent also expressed their faith in economy and perceived it to be robust.
