Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said China is helping the country build a "dormitory" for drug addicts in Nueva Ecija.
"It is only China helping us. I requested the military to open their accounts to allow people who would want to donate rehab houses. China is about to complete... walang hambog, walang news [without pride, without news], neither in publicity, it's about to be completed," Duterte said on Friday (Oct. 7) during the Banana Congress in Davao City.

According to Business World Online, the rehabilitation facility is located in Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, and it could house some 1,400 drug addicts.
The project is in fulfillment of what the Palace earlier said that four rehab centers will be established in military camps this year, Rappler reported.
The country's health secretary Paulyn Ubial paid a visit to China last month to ink an agreement for the development of "mega" treatment and rehabilitation center with 10,000 bed capacity in Fort Magsaysay.
Meanwhile, China has earlier said it will give its all-out support for Duterte's anti-drug war campaign.
"We stand ready to have anti-drug cooperation with the Philippines and formulate a common action plan for it," Geng Shuang, a spokesperson from Chinese Foreign Ministry, told press in a briefing in China on Sept. 29.
Lingxiao Li, the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Manila, also stressed that the anti-drug campaign is a "shared responsibility of all countries in the world," adding that the country's "willingness for effective cooperation in this regard, and would like to work out a specific plan of action in the Philippine side."
