Officials have claimed that a porton of the Great Wall of China collapsed due to strong winds.
Called the Moon Gate in Guangwu, the said part of the world-renowned tourist destination broke down allegedly due to the kind of bricks used to construct it.

The collapsed part of the wall is located in Shanxi province and was built during the Ming Dynasty.
Shanghai Daily quoted Zhang Bingfa, a preservationist with Shanxi Great Wall, as saying that the arch was already on the brink of collapse and was destroyed by a strong wind storm on Monday night. Moon Gate was part of the Guangwu section of the Great Wall. It is located in Shanyin County and spans six kilometers.
Following the incident, debates on the preservation and restoration of the Great Wall of China has reportedly reignited.
Earlier this year, a huge controversy arose when a 780-meter stretch of the wall in Liaoning, which was built during the 14th century, was covered in white cement.
For quite a while now, the Chinese have been complaining about the shoddy quality of restoration work.
The State Council passed a Great Wall Protection Ordinance in 2006. However, Wu Guoqiang, secretary-general of the Great Wall Society of China disclosed that many parts of the walls are no longer sturdy.
