Nominations of the 22nd China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival and the 29th Golden Rooster Awards have been announced recently in Beijing. Film "1942" directed by Feng Xiaogang leads the nominees with 8 nominations, followed by film "Feng Shui" which gets 7 nominations. Actors Zhang Guoli, Huang Xiaoming and actresses Zhang ziyi, Yanbingyan are nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Benefits the mass with thousand free films
According to Kang Jianmin, Secretariat of the Party of China Film Association and Standing Vice President of China Film Association, the 22nd China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival will be held during September 25th to September 28th in Hu Bei, Wuhan. Guided by the idea of "culture benefits the mass", the festival will make innovative attempts. First, thousand free films will be provided for the public. Over 100 mobile teams of film screenings will go to neighborhoods, schools, villages, enterprises and army camps, showing 1500 great Chinese and foreign films created in the past 3 years. The number of audiences is expected to reach 5 million. Secondly, more ordinary people will be invited to attend the main events of the festival. Thirdly, various public events related to film culture will be created. Fourthly, international film exhibition will be held to benefit the public.
The festival will not hold opening evening party and award ceremony with luxury stage construction, or invite superstars for commercial performance. No luxury banquet and reception dinner will be held during the festival. Unnecessary event procedures will be cancelled and the scale of all events and reception hotels will be strictly controlled.
Feng Xiaogang's "1942" gets most nominations
Li Qiangkuan, President of the 22nd China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, announced the nominations for 18 prizes including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Animation, etc. Film "1942" directed by Feng Xiaogang leads the nominees with 8 nominations such as Best Picture, Best Writing, Best Director, Best Animation and Best Cinematographer. It is followed by film "Feng Shui" with 7 nominations including Best Small and Medium Invested Picture, Best Writing, Best Director, Best Actress, etc.
In addition, "So Young" and "American Dreams in China", which both received great box office success during the past half year, gets 6 nominations respectively. "American Dreams in China" gets nominated for Best Picture and Zhao Wei is nominated for Best Directorial Debut.
In terms of the personal prizes of Golden Rooster Awards, Wang Jiawei, Feng Xiaogang, Chen kexin, Wang jing are going to compete for Best Director. Best Actor will be competed for by Huang Xiaoming, Zhang Guoli, etc. The competition for Best Actress is fierce, as Yan Bingyan has already gets various prizes of Best Actress with the film "Feng Shui" and is expected to get one more, while competitors such as Zhang ziyi and Song jia could not be underestimated.
