"Covert Operations" is one of Mai Jia's representative works. Since the novel was released in 2003, there have been more than 20 versions being published so far. It has reached a circulation of more than two million.
The novel spans the Republican era from the 1930s to the early 1950s. It tells a series of legendary stories about the destinies of a small group of Chinese with psychokinetic powers. It describes the reactions of these people when they were in a closed and dark space. Mai Jia's novel creates a fantasy world for the audience with his unique style of vagary, ghastfulness and a sense of mystery.
In 2008, the spy thriller "Covert Operations" was awarded the Mao Dun Literature Prize, which is one of the most prestigious literature prizes in China. And the TV drama, which was adapted from the novel, marks a new era in Chinese show business.
The Spanish version of "Covert Operations" is published by China Intercontinental Press and Grupo Planeta jointly. Grupo Planeta is one of the largest publishers in the world, with over 1 billion dollars of revenue that year. Remarkably, this is also the first contemporary literature work introduced by Grupo Planeta from China to Spain.
"I hope my literature work can be reborn in the dreamlike and ebullient Spanish." Mai Jia said. He feels exciting about his novel's upcoming travel in Spain.
