The Boston Celtics are rumored to be ready to trade three players and a future draft pick to acquire the services of New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis.

Boston added a new star by signing former Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford in the summer, but there are rumors that the team wants to add another one before the new season begins.

One speculated scenario is a trade with the Pelicans for their franchise center Davis.

The Boston team is not giving up on their plan to snatch Davis from New Orleans as the Celtics are speculated to be preparing a trade package that includes Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley, and this year's third overall pick Jaylen Brown, plus an additional first-round draft pick of their choice, according to Sportsrageous.

Such a trade could happen in or before the February trade deadline as both clubs will still have to feel the fit of their rosters in the first few months of the new season.

Davis is considered the current face of the Pelicans' franchise and so his name being mentioned in trade rumors is somewhat surprising.

However, several NBA analysts have predicted that the former Kentucky standout will be traded sooner or later because the player will eventually demand to move to a bigger market to improve his career.

The Inquisitr noted that trading Davis for "several assets would be one way to get the franchise moving in a different direction."

Davis has been with the Pelicans for four seasons, and he has never completed an 82-game campaign in his entire career because of nagging injuries. He is currently sidelined due to a right ankle sprain, and many are wondering whether Davis can stay healthy enough for New Orleans to be able to compete at their full strength.

The Pelicans have advanced to the playoffs only once in Davis' four-year reign and things are not looking good again ahead of the new season.
