Former no. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett has played well in the ongoing NBA Preseason Games and could reportedly land a spot in the Brooklyn Nets' roster in the upcoming season.

Bennett, 23, has never found his place in the league since he was drafted first overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. He had been with three different teams in his first three seasons and is considered as "one of the biggest-ever draft busts" in the history of the NBA.

The former UNLV standout is currently with his fourth club in his fourth professional year as well, but things are starting to look brighter.

This one-year, veteran minimum deal with the Nets is seen by many analysts as his last chance of making an NBA career and it began well so far after three preseason games, as per the New York Post.

"It's a long road, a lot of ups and downs," said Bennett.

Bennett came off the bench in all three preseason appearances and has played longer in the last two.

After a four-point, one-rebound game in 12 minutes against the Detroit Pistons during their preseason-opener, the Canadian big man bounced back in the team's New York derby with the Knicks during their second game as he scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in 21 minutes.

Bennett was given another 21 minutes of action against the Miami Heat on Tuesday and he contributed 11 points and three rebounds as backup to Trevor Booker.

"Anthony Bennett is showing some real life as a rotation big, and he's pushing for minutes," said head coach Kenny Atkinson, via ESPN. "He did a lot of good things."

"He's a system fit: He's fast, he's athletic, he's long, he can roll to the rim, he can shoot. I'm tempering my enthusiasm, but I really like what we saw the other night," the coach added. "He really fits the modern NBA, runs the court."

Atkinson further noted that he is aware of Bennett's misadventures with his former teams, but he looks at their current union as a "fresh opportunity" for both sides as the team is also looking to re-establish itself as one of the elites in the East.
