The Boston Celtics is set to acquire Blake Griffin and Paul Pierce from the Los Angeles Clippers in a rumored five-player deal, the latest NBA trade news revealed.

Boston has been the most-mentioned NBA club in trade rumors this offseason mainly because the team has plenty of trade assets at the moment. With a lot future draft picks, the Celtics can spice up any trade package to persuade a team to deal with.

One of the latest speculations about the club is a trade with the Clippers, which will reportedly send Griffin and Pierce to Boston in exchange for Jaylen Brown, Jonas Jerebko, Amir Johnson and one or two future first-round picks, as reported by Sportsrageous.

Griffin is also one of the most talked about players in trade rumors during the summer as Doc Rivers is reportedly ready to split his team's own Big Three if it means moving deeper in the playoffs next year.

Last month, the Clippers head coach told reporters that he is ready to trade one or two of the Big Three of Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan if the team does not perform in the upcoming season according to management's expectations.

Of the three, Griffin is said to be the odd-man out, as the Clippers has proven last season that it can still be a contender even if the former Oklahoma standout is sidelined by injury.

Griffin suited up in only 35 games last season due to a partially torn left quadriceps and a right hand injury, but the Clippers was still able to advance to the playoffs with a 53-29 record, the fourth in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, Inquisitr reported a completely different rumor that would also send Griffin to the Celtics in an 8-player deal, which is why speculations that the former NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion could be wearing a different uniform on or before next year's February trade deadline are gaining ground.

As for Pierce, the 18-year veteran recently disclosed that 2016-2017 would be his last season, as he is intending to retire as a Celtic. With that premise, this rumored NBA trade could be the way for him to fulfill his plan.
