The reigning 2016 Summer Olympic Games women's singles silver medalist Pusarla Venkata Sindhu of India passed through the opening round of the ongoing BWF World Superseries Yonex Denmark Open after beating China's He Bingjiao on Wednesday evening at the Odense Sports Park and advance to the next round of the competition.

The 21-year-old Indian badminton superstar, who entered the US$700,000 BWF event as the tourney's sixth-seeded player, scored a two-straight set, 21-14, 21-19 victory against the 19-year-old Chinese shuttler.
Sindhu needed just 38 minutes to wrap up the match and registered her first win since reaching the championship round in Rio last August.
"Olympics has given me a lot of confidence and with the same confidence I hope I would go further," Sindhu said in a report of the India Today. "Responsibilities will always be high from now on. It's just that I shouldn't take much of pressure and play my game. I just want to go to the court and give my 100 percent." .
Sindhu, who currently ranks No. 8 in the latest world ranking result, had a poor 1-3 head-to-head record against the incumbent world No. 11 and the recently-crowned Japan Open champion Bingjiao going into the match. However, the right-handed native of Hyderabad kept her nerves as she prevailed over the Chinese youngster and registered her second win over Bingjiao in five meetings.
With the victory, Sindhu will be facing world No. 12 Sayaka Sato of Japan in the following round. Sato defeated the 21-year-old Natalia Koch Rohde of Denmark in three sets, 20-22, 21-16, 21-13.
Meanwhile, in the other opening round matches, China's Sun Yu won over Kim Hyo Min of South Korea with a straight-set 21-9, 21-14 victory that lasted for just 49 minutes.
The seventh-seeded Sun will be playing Danes Mette Poulsen, who defeated her compatriot Amalie Hertz Hanz.
On the other hand, men's singles fourth seed Tian Houwei disposed Pablo Abian of Spain, 21-13, 21-15, while Denmark's second-top seed Viktor Axelsen prevailed over South Korea's Jeon Hyeok Jin, 21-14, 22-24, 21-10, the official website of the BWF said.
