Sven-Goran Eriksson of Sweden intends to stay as the Shanghai SIPG's head coach till the next season despite speculation that the 2000 Serie A Coach of the Year winner could leave the Red Eagles once the current Chinese Super League (CSL) season ends.
According to ESPN FC, pressure is mounting on the former England manager due tp the current team performance of the 2015 CSL runner-up club. Shanghai SIPG presently sits in the fourth spot in the 16-team Chinese premier football league with just three matches remaining and three points adrift of third-placed Shanghai Shenhua.

But Athole Still, who is a long-standing agent of the veteran Swede bench boss, insists that Eriksson plans to see out the final year of his contract with the Shanghai football club.
"He has one more year and as far as we are concerned there has been an assurance given that he will do the third year," Still said. "He is 99 percent certain to qualify for the Asian Champions League again if the team remains in fourth position. He definitely wants to stay and is very happy at SIPG."
SIPG has invested heavily in their team this season, signing the Brazilian striker Hulk to the club for a record $60 million. The Chinese outfit also hired the services of the Asian Champions League-winning South American duo Elkeson and Dario Conca.
Despite the massive amount of money spent to bolster its lineup with high profiled international players, the Shanghai Stadium-homed club surrendered to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of the South Korea in the ACL's quarterfinal round of this year's competition. However, Still believes misfortune and injuries hampered the team's progress.
Hulk was injured in his very first match for the Chinese club, Elkeson picked up a yellow card and missed the quarterfinal's second leg, and Conca was ruled out for a year after having medial cruciate ligament damage.
