Renowned Indian Yoga guru and controversial figure Baba Ramdev has called for boycott of Chinese products in the country.
The 50-year-old founder of Patanjali Ayurved said on Thursday that India could turn into China's "economic slave" if the country's trade deficit with the Asian superpower continues.

"Five years ago China's commerce with India was around Rs 2 lakh crore, this has doubled in five years," Ayurbed said. "If the same speed continued then it will result into a major threat for our economy, India will fall victim of China's economic slavery."
Ramdev's remarks came amid increasing concern on India's huge trade deficits with China. He also raised alarm over growing proximity between China and Pakistan.
"In 2015, China has sold goods worth $61 billion to India whereas India has sold goods only worth $9 billion to China," he continued. "This trade deficit with China is increasing every year. And the sad part of is that China is using this money to help Pakistan."
An Indian campaign to ban all Chinese goods is gaining momentum across the country.
The campaign was initiated following China's support to Pakistan in the wake of the Uri terror attack. India is also unhappy over Beijing's stance over its Nuclear Suppliers Group membership and Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish e Mohammed chief Masood Azhar's issued.
Several Indian government officials, including Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, have recently appealed to the public to avoid buying Chinese products. A powerful trade body in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat has issued a directive to its members to boycott all Chinese goods.
China has always betrayed us. Buying Chinese products is like helping the enemy. Every nationalist Indian should boycott Chinese products
