Rumors have emerged that the Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings are "deep in talks" for a possible trade involving Rudy Gay and Goran Dragic.

Speculations abound that the Kings are offering to send Gay and point guard Darren Collison to the Heat for Dragic.

Basketball Insiders confirmed the rumors citing an unnamed Eastern Conference executive saying that "Sacramento has to trade Gay" as the veteran small forward "has already informed them he doesn't like it there. They can't let him walk for nothing."

Gay, 30, is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer as he earlier announced that he would opt out of the final year of his deal at the end of the season. The former Connecticut standout also said that he plans to take offers from other clubs as he wants a more stable working environment.

Gay specifically mentioned the Heat as one of the teams he would love to join in the future and so he has been linked to Miami in a lot of trade scenarios.

Aside from getting something in return from releasing a disgruntled player, Sacramento would fulfill its lingering desire to have a long-term and reliable starting point guard in Dragic. The Kings have had problems at the position since they traded Mike Bibby away in 2008. It has been ten years since the Kings last qualified for the playoffs and team officials are determined to build a contending roster soonest.

Meanwhile, CSN Bay Area reported that Gay is not fazed by the recent trade rumors linking him to the Heat.

"I'm in the same place I was earlier in the day, I'm in Sacramento," said Gay after being asked how he feels about all the speculations. "It is what it is, man, it's the NBA, it happens. Rumors are going to happen and you've just got to go out there and play basketball."

Even at his age, Gay remains one of the best two-way players in the league. Last season, he averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 steals in 34.0 minutes per game as a starter in 70 games.
