China Youth Daily has also confirmed that a person in Wuhan city has been detained for posting a video that allegedly showed laid-off Wugang workers in a mass protest.
The video was reportedly shot by propaganda officials from Wuhan Steel Group during night time and showed surging crowd.
Wuhan Steel Group was in the news recently after it was reported that Baoshan Iron & Steel would acquire the indebted steel company. The deal was considered crucial to tackle the operational inefficiencies and huge overcapacity in China's steel sector.
Labor unrest is not very common in China. However, reports of labour protest rarely appear in Chinese media rarely.
Meanwhile, the Chinese government is making earnest efforts to address the issue of overcapacity in the country's steel sector as it is likely to stroke labor unrest across China. The government's decision to fix this issue has reportedly led to job cuts in several steel factories and mills.
