China's top-ranked cueist Ding Junhui advances to the next round of the ongoing 2016 International Championship in Daqing after emerging victorious in the opening day of the £657,000 (USD802,000) World Snooker ranking event against Mitchell Mann of England.

The current world No. 6 Chinese snooker player staged a remarkable rally to prevail over the professional English cueman with a 6-5 come-from-behind triumph.

Ding was trailing from 5-2 at the start of the match, but went on to win the last four frames to steal the game and escaped an upset loss against Mann, who presently ranks No. 115 in the world.

According to the official website of the World Snooker, breaks of 65, 52, 73, 64 and 57 helped the 24-year-old native of Birmingham to just one frame away from claiming victory. However, Mann was not able to sustain his advantage as his Chinese opponent started to get hot and made good breaks.

Ding won the succeeding two frames with a remarkable top run of 64, then rallied after being down from 57-0 deficit to steal the 10th frame with breaks of 32 and 33.

The 29-year-old five-time Asian Games gold medalist finished the decider with a match-winning 81 and booked a showdown against the 31-year-old Englishman David Grace in the round of last 64.

Meanwhile, China's 2016 English Open champion Liang Wenbo also displayed a strong determination to win after coming back from 5-3 down to overcome Mei Xi Wen 6-5, winning the deciding frame by 81-23.

Zhou Yuelong of China registered a 6-3 victory over Anthony McGill, while James Wattana of Thailand beat David Gilbert, who was the tournament's runner-up in its previous edition last year, with a 6-3 win.

Reigning world champion and incumbent world No. 1 Mark Selby defeated Paul Davison with a 6-4 triumph, while the tournament's defending champion, John Higgins, saw off Sydney Wilson with a dominant 6-0 win.
