Her beloved friends, family and fans were gathered during the unveiling of her statue on Camden Square in London, England. The said area was chosen because Winehouse found her musical roots in the said town.
Winehouse had moved to Camden town at the age of 16 to pursue her music career and, she had also lived on Camden Square at the time of her death.her hip providing an unmistakable silhouette.
According to sculptor Scott Eaton, "A mutual friend introduced me to Amy's father Mitch. We met to talk about my work, the design process and ideas for the sculpture. I developed a few drawings and we took things from there."
Eaton shared that he had always been a fan of the deceased artist and that capturing her style and energy on bronze was simply exciting from an artist's perspective.
Winehouse's father, Mitch, was emotional when the statue was unveiled, saying, "It is like stopping her in a beautiful moment in time."
Mitch Winehouse also reminded everyone that although his daughter is physically gone, her legacy, music, as well as the Amy Winehouse Foundation live on.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation was set up in 2011 after the singer's death. The said organization aims at preventing the effects of substance abuse on young people, as well as supporting and inspiring young people in dire circumstances to reach their full potential.
When she was alive, the singer was once quoted as saying, "Life's short. Anything could happen, and it usually does, so there is no point in sitting around thinking about all the ifs, ands and buts."
Winehouse passed away three years ago from alcohol poisoning.
