After an injury-plagued professional basketball career, the NBA's former top overall draft pick Greg Oden is starting his life all over again with a new twist.

According to NBA.com, Oden, who was selected by the Portland Trail Blazer in the 2007 NBA Draft, is currently enrolled this semester at the Ohio State University as a 28-year-old sophomore college student majoring a degree in sports industry.

He played college basketball at Ohio State University, where he is currently working as a student manager while he goes back to finish his degree at the college, for one season.

"I'm still trying to figure out my life," Oden continued in quotes published on the IndyStar. "Since I've been in fourth grade, all I've known was basketball. I'm just trying to better myself and work on my degree and set something up for the future of my family."

Oden most recently played in China, where he appeared in 25 games for the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team Jiangsu Dragons. During his stint with the CBA, he registered averages of 13.0 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 26.3 minutes of action per game.

Oden is a player with a lot of potential as he led his Lawrence North High School squad to three successive state championships.

He spent one season with the Buckeyes while averaging 15.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots in 28.9 minutes per contest. Oden appeared in 32 official games for the collegiate team as well.

However, the native of Buffalo, New York had misfortunes as he suffered series of major injuries all throughout his career that tamed his supposed to be a sterling professional playing métier.

In March 2012, he was waived by the Trail Blazers after an un-progressive five seasons with the club. He later on played for the Miami Heat in 2013 for a one-year playing contract before heading towards the Far East for a reported one-year, US$1.2 million deal to play in China.
