Portland Trail Blazers' new acquisition Festus Ezeli is still on the bench with a knee surgery that he suffered in August and there is reportedly still no timetable yet for his return.

ESPN reported that the one-time NBA champion received a procedure in his left knee by being "injected with a bone marrow aspirate concentrate and Orthovisc to alleviate pain and improve function."

The operation was done on Aug. 23 and he was initially ruled out for six weeks. However, more than nine weeks have passed since the operation and Ezeli is not yet cleared for any basketball activities, indicating that the healing is way behind schedule.

"It's going to be slow," Ezeli said with regards to his recovery, according to CSNNW. "It is slow. But hopefully rewarding at the end."

The former Golden State Warriors player has never played a complete 82-game season in his whole three-year career. He suited up in 78 games during his rookie season in 2012-2013 before playing 46 games each in the last two years, both with the Warriors, because of various injuries.

Ezeli said that he hopes this injury would be the last of his career as he does not want to talk about that subject anymore.

"I'm sick of talking about it more because I'm not on the court yet, and I have to keep saying the same thing: It's a process, I'm taking it day-by-day," he said. "So I just continue to work and make my leg stronger. But I don't have a timetable. I just know we are going to have to be patient."

Ezeli is yet to suit up for what would be his fourth NBA season and he is evidently keen to showcase his skills for Portland soon. This is the first time he will be playing not as a member of the Warriors after he signed a two-year, $15.1 deal with the Blazers in the summer.

Meanwhile, team president Neil Olshey asked the fans to be patient with Ezeli's Blazers debut, saying that "they better be (patient)" and "there has to be a reality to Festus and the contract he signed."

"We are going to be patient with Festus. We saw what he can do in the Golden State series last season. But he's going to take a little bit of time," Olshey added.
