The reigning Summer Olympic Games champion Carolina Marin of Spain will be coming back into action this month as she takes part in the upcoming BWF 2016 Thaihot China Open, the latest badminton news revealed.

Marin had an untimely injury in her thighs and suffered from gastroenteritis that affected her performance at the Denmark Open, where she lost in the final four against Japanese Akane Yamaguchi in three sets, last month and caused her to withdraw from the recently-concluded French Open last week.

"I forced it a little, but this week I'm back training and I'm now eager for the next tournament I have in China," the native of Huelva said.

"It's very tough because the level is higher all the time, but I'll have a lot of chances and I want to win (those big events)," she added.

The upcoming BWF event will be staged at the Xaixia Olympic Sports Center in the city of Fuzhou in the province of Fujian. It will commence on Nov. 15 and will conclude on Nov. 20, based on the announcement on the official website of BWF.

The badminton news shared that Carolina Marin is the current No. 1 women's singles player in the world. She has garnered a total of 80,530 ranking points in the 12 tournaments that she participated this season with an impressive career record of 252 wins and with only 77 losses.

The Spanish female shuttler had already won two World Championship titles under her name, claiming the crown in two straight years, in 2014 in Copenhagen and in Jakarta, Indonesia last 2015.

She defeated P.V. Sindhu of India at the final round of the quadrennial event in Rio last August and became the first non-Asian player to bag the highly recognized title.
