Three Kenyan Kung Fu artists are the lucky winners of one week fully paid training session at the Beijing International Art School. This comes after they won a competition at the Kung Fu Festival which was organized and sponsored by StarTimes, a payTV company at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Saturday.

The three--Maurice Kwizera, Peter Kibe, and Aphrodice Bakorubusa--are set to visit the renowned art school come next month. They will be taught further about Wushu, Chinese Kung Fu.
Speaking at the event, StarTimes communication manager Alex Mwaura explained that not only were they looking to promote the TV company, but also Kung Fu itself in Kenya.
"Basically, it's to celebrate the kind of content that is available on this channel because it's an action-oriented kind of channel," he explained. "When we did our research, we realized that Kung Fu is very popular in Kenya from the Kung Fu action movies right from the kids to the adults."
Peter Kibe, 17, overjoyed with the opportunity granted to him, he said that he would use the opportunity to advance his skills and knowledge about Kung Fu.
"I also hope this will help in making the sports more popular in Kenya. At the moment, the sports is limited to a few clubs," he added.
Kung Fu Master Maurice Kwezira explained that all the skills he gathers would be spread to his students back at home.
"All the skills I will get from China will be a big boost for Kenyan students. Once I get the skills I will share the knowledge with others," said Kwezira.
A team of ten Kung Fu masters from the school had carried out the training for the Kung Fu Festival, which was the first of its kind in Kenya.
"We are excited to have this team of Kung Fu experts in the country and are confident that the contribution they will have on the local teams will go a long way towards the sport in Kenya," said StarTimes Vice President, Mark Lisboa.
