WCIA Channel 3 Ilinois anchor and devout Christian, Dave Benton, announced on air that he is dying of brain cancer and, that doctors have given him around four to six months left to live.

He bravely made the announcement beside his co-presenter, Jennifer Roscoe, last Thursday.

Roscoe began by saying that they had "serious stuff to discuss" and, that they were an "open book". She said that they wanted to share news that they have known for awhile, while also praising her co-anchor's strength and optimism.

After her brief introduction, Benton let viewers know that his brain cancer had returned and the prognosis is grim, sharing, "My cancer is back and it's too big for surgery and radiation. Doctors have told me I may only have four to six months to live."

Benton shared that he is going to be trying a new treatment that could possibly slow down the growth of the cancer. However, instead of talking more about the treatment or other procedures, Benton shared that he wants to live every moment with appreciation, with gusto.

"The goal is to have a few more days and make them the best that they can be in the life that I have," he shared.

Benton, who is married with two adult children, shared that despite the grim prognosis and the heavy months ahead, he said that he is at peace knowing that his life is in God's hands, adding, "I know that he's going to take care of the days ahead."

In about three weeks, Benton will be celebrating nine years of being with the station.

Benton has gotten a lot of support from friends, family and fans online who only wish him the best.

He took to social media to share his gratitude and that the tweets he has been receiving has been a great source of inspiration to him.
