Although the specific location where the exercise took place was not revealed, Chinese state media on Tuesday said the three-stage exercise was "carried out in a border region between the two sides," India Today noted.
At least 120 soldiers from each team reportedly participated, with elite commandos from PLA's 21st Group Army and Pakistan's SSG commandos, The Hindu noted citing the China Radio International.
Among the drills included in the training program are charging armored vehicles, searching door-to-door, battling on streets, and besieging terrorists in a simulated raid on terrorist forces, according to The Nation.
The 15-day exercises that began on Oct. 27 in Pakistan's National Counter Terrorism Center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were carried out to in an apparent bid to boost its cooperation against terrorism.
"The exercises helped strengthened the abilities of the two forces to fight terrorists through coordinated command systems, and further cemented the friendship and the counter-terrorism cooperation mechanism between the two forces."
Through the joint training with their Pakistani counterparts, Chinese special forces were able to test different tactics and gain valuable experience, considering that Pakistan special forces have already undergone long years of warfare against extremist groups.
Pakistan, on the other hand, is already participating in China's Quadrilateral Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism, which aims to counter terrorism in region borders. The mechanism already includes Afghanistan and Tajikistan, the News 18 noted.
