Samsung and China Mobile have finished the testing of a new 5G network technology.
The partnership will help the South Korean tech giant to penetrate China, which is one of the world's biggest telecommunications markets. China's state-owned telecom operator, China Mobile, has 840 million subscribers.

“We are going to strengthen more alliances with Chinese telecom operators to develop more 5G-related technologies and their standardization,” said Jang Dae-goon, vice president at Samsung Electronics' DMC Research Center in Beijing.
The goal of the 5G technology is to provide data transmission speeds about 100 times faster compared to the current 4G wireless networks. Both companies conducted the field test in Beijing.
They used two wireless spectrum bands, which are 28 GHz and 3.5 GHz, according to Yonhap News. Samsung and China Mobile established the main characteristics of the millimeter waves and demonstrated how the ultra-fast mobile broadband could be made commercially available.
Analysts, who were part of the 5G field test, said that the 28 GHz wireless spectrum could provide faster speed. However, it requires the telecom operators to construct more base station. In comparison, 3.5 GHz band offers wider frequency coverage but slower speed compared to 28 GHz band.
The South Korean tech firm has been doubling its effort to improve 5G technologies for some time now. The company has announced that 5G technologies would be ready for commercial use by the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Phone Arena reported.
Samsung also said that its partnership with China Mobile is important because it signals another milestone in cooperation between the two companies. In addition, it will strengthen its relationship with other Chinese firms.
