Luo Ning, honorary chairman of Beijing Guoan, claims that the club approached Wayne Rooney at the beginning of the season. However, Manchester United captain declined their offer and opted to stay with his current team. Rooney still has three years left on his current contract.
Speaking during a Beijing radio sports show, Ning said, "Rooney says he'll keep playing in the Premier League as long as his health allows." The British footballer is regularly pursued by overseas football clubs despite his current lackluster performance in the league.

Rooney is likely to be included in the England team for upcoming World Cup qualifier match at Wembley. The match is against Scotland and will be played on Friday. He was part of United's starting line up against Swansea match on Sunday. The team won the game with a 3-1 score, including two goals set up by Rooney.
Rooney was dropped from United's starting line-up in September, after the team's 3-1 defeat at Watford. The footballer currently earns £300,000 a-week contract with the club.
Prior to United's match against Swansea City, Rooney put up a fine performance in on Thursday after he scored an impressive goal against Fenerbahce. Rooney is currently the second all-time leading goalscorer in the division. He is third on the list of most assists. The first and second places on the list are held by Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard respectively.
