Two bodies were found early Monday on a picturesque Thai beach. The victims were identified as British tourists who were in their 20s. The local police disclosed that both Britons were killed in a bloody and brutal attack. In addition, the ruthlessness of the attack was further confirmed by a blood stained hoe, which was discovered close to the bodies of the victims. Investigators believe it to be the murder weapon.

In describing the condition of the bodies, Police Colonel Prachum Ruangthong stated that "the man was chopped in the back and on the side of his head, while the woman was chopped in her face. He further depicted the heinous crime as "very gruesome." A local report added that the bodies were discovered roughly 100 meters away from the location of an ongoing beach party. Preliminary investigations reveal that the attackers might have been anticipating the victims and intended to attack them at the end of the party, which was flocked by a group of international ravers
One of the victims was a woman from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. She was identified to be 23 years old. The other victim was a man from Jersey located in the Channel Islands. He was said to be 24 years old. According to authorities, the bloody attack occurred in the small island of Koh Tao located in the Gulf of Thailand. This place has been well known for its diving spots and dynamic bars. Moreover, the island has always been considered as a popular tourist destination.
At present, local investigators are analyzing the footages from CCTVs gathered from the bars and restaurants in the island. In addition, authorities have decided to bar people from getting off Koh Tao before finding a solid lead on the gruesome case.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office has already been informed of the demise of the two British nationals. "The embassy are urgently seeking information from the local authorities and consular staff stand ready to provide assistance to friends and family at this tragic time," the officials pressed.
Locals fear that the news of the ghastly murders could negatively affect Thailand's tourism industry. In recent years, this particular industry has already suffered due to the nation's serious political struggles and the initiation of martial law.
