The product is used ideally to return infertile land back to a suitable state for crop growth and trigger an increase in crop production. It was designed of Dr. Xuemei Germaine, a Ph.D. Holder from Carlow IT.

Ms. Germaine, who is not only the CEO but as well the founder of MicroGen Biotech, insists that more funds need to be gathered to cater for the growth of the technology.

"We need this to expand R&D (Research and development), marketing and business development. Our plan is to grow the company by establishing a joint venture partnership across the globe," said Ms. Germaine.

The company, which is currently targeting the €48 billion ($52 billion) worth of China's crop growing land, is looking for funding estimated at €5 million ($5.4 million).

Ms. Germaine took heed of the advice given to her in regards to her education and what she needed to do to return the favor to China's society.

"People I met there (China) told me my Ph.D. in bioremediation was something I could use because this was something that China needed," she said. " A fifth of the Chinese arable land is polluted and needs more arable land to feed a population of 1.36 billion people."
