Speaking at a joint news conference, he said, "We want to improve our relations under the Trump administration. We are ready to improve U.S. ties through mutual understanding." Wang said that both US parties, Democrats and Republics, are willing to have cordial ties with China.
He also said that China will work closely with the Obama administration for smooth transition of relationships. Wang added that China hopes that the current cooperation will be sustained during the new regime as well.
Trump had made explosive remarks about China during his election campaign. Apart from labeling the country as a currency manipulator, he also accused China of 'raping' the US on trade policy. Trump also called climate change a 'hoax' perpetrated by China.
However, in his recent telephonic conversation with Chinese president Xi Jinping, Trump is believed to have said that the two leaders will form one of the strongest relationships. Trump also said both the countries will together move forward.
Chinese foreign minister is currently in Turkey for boosting bilateral relationship. He met his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara. Both the ministers said that their countries are willing to step up their cooperation. This year marks the 45th year of establishing diplomatic ties between China and Turkey.
